An elderly Leitchfield woman has been seriously injured after being stuck by a vehicle on the Leitchfield Town Square.

The Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments and EMS responded to a pedestrian being struck Monday morning at approximately 9:40.

The accident occurred as a truck was traveling north on South Main Street. As the vehicle, being driven by a male, entered the traffic circle, it struck a female who was walking in a crosswalk.

The victim was transported to Baptist Health Hardin by EMS.

This accident marks the second time in three weeks that a pedestrian has been struck in Leitchfield.

On April 29, a female Grayson Co. High School student was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Lilac Road and Brandenburg Road. The victim was critically injured.

The Leitchfield Police Department, acknowledging the large number of pedestrians who walk Leitchfield’s streets, issued the following statement to K105 on the April 29 accident:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the pedestrian, as we believe this is just a tragic accident. This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of how important it is for pedestrians to be vigilant when crossing roadways.”
