Donald Johnson, age 67, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (May 19, 2025) at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville. He was born on April 7, 1958 in Leitchfield, the son of the late Albert Johnson and his mother, Eunice Croghan Johnson Siefert.

He retired from Transtar Recycling. He also worked as an automotive technician for Big O, as well as being self-employed. Donald enjoyed farming, gardening, and mushroom hunting. He was an avid reader of history; especially war history. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool with his grandson, Braiden, and collecting cans with his grandson, Corbin. Donald loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He married Catherine Ann Nelson on February 9, 1989. They formed a beautiful life together until her death in 2013.

He is survived by his mother, Eunice Siefert (Doug); son, Will Johnson (Brittany); sister, Debbie Harrison (Neil); brother, Douglas Siefert, Jr. (Tasha); step-daughter, Jessica Brock (Michael Welsh); step-son, James Edgar (Elizabeth); 2 grandchildren, Braiden and Corbin Johnson; and 2 step-grandchildren, Cody and Eli Brock. Several cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces also survive; along with a special cousin, Teddy Piercy.

Other than his father, Albert Johnson, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Nelson Johnson; and his grandparents, Herman and Ethel Croghan.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, (May 25, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Cremation will follow the service with burial in the Claggett United Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
