Motorists in Ohio County should anticipate a road closure on Sebree-Hartford Road (KY 136) at Tom’s Branch Creek beginning Monday.
The closure is scheduled to last for 30 days as a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) contractor will replace a concrete culvert that carries the roadway over the creek, according to KYTC District 2 spokesman Matt Hughes.
There will be a marked detour during this period, utilizing U.S. 431, KY 85, KY 69 and U.S. 231.
The KYTC is in the middle of multi-year, $9.6 million multi-year project that will see the replacement of bridges over Stillhouse Branch, Hanley Creek, Barnett Creek, Toms Branch, Little No Creek, and No Creek.
Grading and drainage upgrades will also be completed.
Temporary bridges are being utilized at multiple sites throughout this project, but such a structure was not feasible at Tom’s Branch Creek, Hughes said.
No Creek bridge will close in late 2025 with an anticipated reopening planned for April 2026. The contractor then plans to complete work required to transition traffic to the new Barnett Creek bridge. Construction on that span began earlier this year.
Next summer, the Stillhouse Branch bridge will be closed for approximately one month to install a new arch culvert bridge. There will be a marked detour, as installing a temporary structure is not possible at this location.
The final completion date for the wide-ranging project, according to Hughes, is October 2026. The project schedule is subject to change due to weather and other factors.
