Body of boater who fell overboard pulled from Kentucky Lake

The body of a man has been pulled from Kentucky Lake after two men fell out of a boat.

Multiple first responders responded on Saturday morning at approximately 7:00 after an empty boat was found circling in the water near Hamlin, in Calloway Co., according to Calloway Co. Fire-Rescue.

One of the two men who fell out of the boat was able to swim to shore. First responders found the man after pinging his cellphone and discovering his location.

The body of a second boater, 51-year-old Steve Simpkins, was recovered from the lake on Sunday afternoon at about 2:00, Calloway Co. Fire-Rescue said in a social media post.

Several agencies other than Calloway Co. Fire-Rescue provided services during the incident, including Marshall County Rescue Squad, McCracken County Rescue Squad, the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, as well as emergency management teams from Marshall, Graves, McCracken and Calloway counties.
