A man has perished in a house fire in Fleming County.
Kentucky State Police said investigators were requested at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday after a body was discovered inside a burned home in Wallingford, a community approximately seven miles east of Flemingsburg in northeastern Kentucky.
The state police investigation revealed that 69-year-old John Niece, of Wallingford, was inside his home when the residence caught fire, and was unable to escape the flames.
The cause of the fire and Niece’s death remain under investigation by state police.
KSP personnel were assisted at the scene by the Muses Mill and Hillsboro Fire Departments and the Fleming County Coroner’s Office.
