
A seven-year-old child has drowned at an aquatic center.
The incident happened on Monday at Paradise Cove Aquatic Center in Richmond, according to a report by WKYT.com. Lifeguards performed CPR on the boy, who was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.
A spokesperson for the city of Richmond told WKYT.com that the Richmond Police Department is “collaborating with the pool management company to gather all relevant information and conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. The pool will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time.”
The victim’s body was transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.
Paradise Cove Aquatic Center is operated by the city of Richmond.
