A Butler County man had the experience of a lifetime as he threw out the first pitch of the Cincinnati Reds game on Saturday night.
Jason Mode tossed out the ceremonial first pitch at the contest where the Reds took on the Colorado Rockies at Great American Ballpark, according to an article by Justin Miller for the Beech Tree News.
In front of over 33,000 fans, Mode, under what had to have been enormous pressure, “delivered a strike to the delight of fans and his proud family watching from the sidelines,” Miller wrote.
Mode was nominated for the honor by his employer, McCormick Equipment in Morgantown. He was nominated for his “hard work, leadership, and community involvement,” Miller reports.
Adding to Mode’s already spectacular experience was the Reds ninth inning comeback propelled by a game-tying triple by Will Benson. The Reds Noelvi Marte then reached base on a Colorado error, allowing Benson to score the game-winning run as the home team prevailed 4-3.
