The Grayson County 8U All-Star team valiantly battled at the Kentucky State Little League Baseball Tournament before coming up just short in the highly competitive competition.
The team opened the double-elimination tournament, held in Richmond on Sunday through Wednesday, with a 13-2 romp over South Central Floyd.
The squad, coached by Travis Johnston, Sam Jones, Jodie Nutt, and Henry Burden, then took on Lewis County where the team lost a tight contest, 9-6.
Needing a win to advance, the Grayson Co. All-Stars put on a show against Richmond on Sunday night as their bats came alive. The two teams engaged in a taut, back-and-forth battle before Grayson Co. lost 19-15 in a heartbreaking, six-inning setback.
The players, coaches and parents should be congratulated on the commitment and enthusiasm each group displayed during the Grayson Co. 8U All-Star team’s postseason run.
