Three people, including an infant, have died in a crossover crash in Breckinridge County.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the wreck on Saturday at approximately 5:10 p.m. in the 13000 block of Hardinsburg Road (Hwy 261), about eight miles west of McQuady.
State police said the investigation showed that 48-year-old Joseph Maynard, of Owensboro, was driving a Ford F-150 south on Hardinsburg Road when he crossed the center line and struck a northbound Chevrolet Silverado head-on. Both vehicles then became engulfed in flames.
The driver of the Silverado, 22-year-old Hunter Lyons, his one-year-old female passenger, both of Custer, and Maynard were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office, according to state police.
An adult female passenger in Lyons’ vehicle was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The affected portion of Hardinsburg Road was closed for several hours to allow troopers to reconstruct the collision.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Breckinridge Co. Sheriff’s Office, EMS and the Hardinsburg and Fordsville Fire Departments.
The accident remains under investigation by accident reconstructionist, Trooper John Goldsborough.
