Elizabethtown Community and Technical College (ECTC) was recently awarded a TRIO Student Support Services grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
The $1.6 million grant will aid at least 185 participants each year for five years.
The grant will help TRIO SSS provide individualized services such as one-on-one tutoring, guidance through the educational process, academic counseling, transfer assistance, visits to four-year universities and more. The project’s goals are to increase retention and graduation rates among participants.
“TRIO Student Support Services historically serves first-generation, low-income students who may not be as familiar with the college experience as other students,” ECTC TRIO SSS Director Breanna Phillips said. “Our work contributes to increased skills and motivation while empowering participants to achieve their educational goals.”
“Every student deserves to thrive at college, and our team is dedicated to helping students who may need extra support,” Phillips added. “Earning this grant means we can continue to assist our students where they need it most.”
ECTC fall classes begin on August 18. To apply, visit ectc.us/apply. For more information about TRIO SSS, visit ectc.us/trio.
