A Clarkson man is facing a dozen charges, including burglary, theft and engaging in organized crime.

The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old Joseph W. Thomas on an indictment warrant out of Butler County charging him with two counts of second-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, two counts of theft by unlawful taking (more than $1,000, less than $10,000), two counts of receiving stolen property (more than $1,000, less than $10,000), engaging in organized crime, two counts of first-degree criminal trespass, and persistent felony offender.

Thomas was initially lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center on July 29 before being transferred to the Butler County Jail where he’s being held on a $50,000 cash bond.

The indictment stems after an incident where Thomas and Nickolas Montgomery, of Grayson County, were arrested by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office in May after the duo was accused of burglarizing a property in the 1900 block of McKendree Chapel Road where jewelry, a go-cart and other items were stolen.

The pair was also accused of stealing a Honda 4-wheeler later that same day from the 1700 block of Al Embry Road.

Police were able to identify the license plate of the truck hauling the Honda, which led deputies to the 600 block of Bryant Hollow Road, northeast of Morgantown, where police made contact with Thomas and Montgomery and recovered the stolen items.
