
Geraldine Lou Edwards, age 93, of Midway, KY, (formerly of Elizabethtown, KY) passed away Friday, (August 8, 2025) at The Home Place in Midway.
She was born on August 3, 1932 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of the late David Hardin and Viola Curl Wieber.
A dedicated wife and mother, Geraldine was a homemaker who enjoyed going to church, attending family reunions, walking around the neighborhood with her husband, planting pretty flowers in her flower beds and was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats fan. She loved country music, especially country gospel songs, often listening to it around the house or watching The Grand Old Opry on TV. She was a member of the Elizabethtown Baptist Church for many years; a former Sunday School and Bible Study teacher; and was a former member of Eastern Star.
She is survived by daughter, Lisa Grim (Larry) of Frankfort, KY; two surrogate daughters, Martha Cruse (Don) of Sonora, KY & Brenda Majcher (Tom) of Frankfort; and a best friend of more than 70 years, Violet Parks. Several cousins and friends also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, JC Edwards; an aunt, Beulah McLanahan; an uncle, John Watts; and other close cousins.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, (August 11, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Chaplain Tyler Greene will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mahurin Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. Monday until time of services.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Mahurin Cemetery Fund in Geraldine’s name, the Rally for a Cure, or the Capital Ovarian Cancer Organization.
