The 10th annual Ducking Hunger Regatta, which has raised over $40,000 over the last three years to feed food-insecure Grayson Countians, is scheduled for September 1 at the Leitchfield Aquatic Center (LAC).
The event, which benefits the Grayson County Alliance (GCA) Food Pantry, features 2,000 ducks, purchased by individuals or businesses for $5 each, that race toward the finish line in the LAC’s Lazy River, with the winning duck earning a $1,000 cash prize for its purchaser.
Every adopted duck helps provide 40 meals to lower income families in Grayson County through the Food Pantry.
Tickets to adopt racing ducks are on sale through August 30 at GCA at 2203 Brandenburg Road; or by calling 270-259-4000; or by clicking here.
There are only 2,000 ducks available to purchase, which has the potential to raise $10,000 (approximately 80,000 meals) for the Food Pantry.
“And that’s because our community cares; our community is compassionate and cares about their friends and neighbors in need,” Childress exclaimed at the time.
Last year’s Regatta marked the second straight year the key GCA fundraiser recorded all-time highs, as 2023’s Ducking Hunger Regatta raised a then-record $13,200, and was also the first time that all 2,000 ducks were purchased by the public.
