An elderly woman and her dog have perished in a residential fire in Rockcastle County.
The fire began in a mobile home on Davis Street in Mt. Vernon Monday morning at approximately 9:15, according to a report by WKYT.com.
The Rockcastle County Coroner’s Office told WLEX.com that 73-year-old Lois M. Bowman and her dog, Billy Bob, died in the blaze.
Several fire departments, including from Mt. Vernon and Brodhead, battled the fire. The home, though, was a total loss.
The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
