The Leitchfield City Council met on Monday night and accepted a bid to upgrade the Transfer Station building.
Two bids to complete the work were received, with Bratcher Services (based in Leitchfield) submitting the winning bid of $63,250, approximately $3,000 less than the other bid.
Before voting to accept the bid, councilman Tootie Cottrell asked: “Is that just to redo the building? Is it that bad; $63,000 worth?”
“It’s pretty rough, Tootie,” Mayor Harold Miller responded. “If you go over and look at it, it’s got a lot of wear on it.”
The mayor later added, “It’s a safety thing, plus, it’s an opportunity to get it back (the building) to the standard of the building.”
The expenditure was already included in the budget.
The bid was unanimously approved by the council.
Streetlights
Anyone who’s driven around the roundabout at the intersection of Elizabethtown Road and the William Thomason Byway at night knows the area is absent streetlights. That darkness will be illuminated after the council agreed to enter into an agreement with Kentucky Utilities to install two streetlights at the intersection.
Executive session
The council entered into an executive session for approximately 30 minutes to discuss personnel. They emerged with no decision reached regarding the personnel issue.
