A Grayson County man newly convicted of multiple felonies has been accused of dragging a woman by her hair in a parking lot and knocking her unconscious.
The incident happened on Sunday night at approximately 10:00 when the Leitchfield Police Department and Grayson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a burglary in progress. While en route, officers were told the victim had, to keep the intruder out of her home, “screwed the front door shut,” and that she knew the suspect, according to the arrest citation.
When police arrived at the scene, the suspect, 29-year-old Ronny R. Johnson, of Clarkson, was walking in a parking lot away from the scene. He was detained by police.
The victim told police that Johnson “drug her by the hair of her head down the second story stairs, pulling plugs of her hair out.” Hours later, after not being allowed to leave the residence, the victim attempted to flee but Johnson, in the parking lot, “drug her to the ground again by the hair and she hit the ground, unconscious,” the citation states.
Additionally, the victim informed police that Johnson, according to the citation, “had threatened to cut her head off with a machete, and had the machete in the living room, and threatened to kill her multiple times.”
Johnson was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree burglary and fourth-degree assault and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
Johnson, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections (KDC), was found guilty of second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine, with an enhancement) and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) in Grayson County in March 2025.
The suspect was also, according to the KDC, convicted in Grayson County in December 2020 for trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), three counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, drug unspecified), possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
