The city of Leitchfield has found a simple but pertinent way to honor veterans.

A new sign in the parking lot at Leitchfield City Hall designates a parking spot near the front door as reserved for veterans only.

“We have a new sign at City Hall. Our veterans deserve all of the honor and respect we can give them, and as a small token of our appreciation we have reserved a parking spot beside the front door at City Hall,” Mayor Harold Miller said in a social media post.

Miller teased that more of the signage will be placed on city-owned property.

“As we continue to honor our veterans you will see more of these signs on city properties in the near future. God bless our veterans and their families,” Miller wrote.

The mayor additionally requested business owners in the city or county who wish to have a veterans parking spot placeholder installed to contact City Hall.

“The last thing I will add,” Miller stated, “if there is anyone who runs a business in the city/county who would like to honor those that served us, reach out to me and I can help you acquire the signage.”

Contact Leitchfield City Hall by calling 270-259-4034.

According to Census Reporter.org, there are over 1,100 military veterans living in Grayson County.
