One person was killed and another charged in an ATV crash.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the crash on Monday afternoon at approximately 2:20 in the 7800 block of Hardwicks Creek Road in Powell County.
State police said its investigation showed that 32-year-old Shawn Cornett, of Irvine, was driving an ATV on the roadway on Hardwicks Creek Road when he lost control, causing the ATV to overturn.
Cornett was transported to Clark Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His passenger, 29-year-old Ashley N. Plowman, of Irvine, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Powell County Coroner’s Office.
“Upon arriving at the hospital, Mr. Cornett left against medical advice,” according to state police.
Troopers, though, located Cornett at his home where he was arrested and charged with reckless homicide and multiple all-terrain vehicle violations, state police said.
He was lodged in the Powell County Detention Center.
According to online records, Cornett was arrested last month in Perry County for leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid and driving on a suspended/revoked license.
