Two Boone County deputies have been shot multiple times while serving a warrant.
The shooting happened Thursday night at approximately 10:00 at Towne Creek Crossing Apartments in the 13000 block of Service Road in Walton when deputies arrived to serve a warrant related to overdue child support, according to a report by WLWT.com.
Both deputies suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The shooter barricaded himself inside an apartment. Several law enforcement agencies arrived on the scene, including at least one SWAT team, as tear gas was deployed. Police, though, using a drone, confirmed that the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The deputies, Boone Co. Major Philip Ridgell told news outlets, are in stable condition, as their prognoses are “pretty positive.”
Both deputies are men and both were wearing ballistic vests when attacked. It’s unclear if either deputy returned fire during the incident.
The suspect’s identity has not been released.
