Grayson County elementary school students are learning about agriculture this week as “All in for Ag Week” is in full swing.

Beginning on Monday, students learned about the importance of agriculture in everyday life from Grayson County High School agriculture students.

At Lawler Elementary, students learned how to identify the different breeds of cows.

“Students got to taste different types of cheese or milk, learned how to identify different dairy cow breeds, wrote to local farmers, and got a little artistic, too,” Grayson County Schools said.

Several books used to illustrate and bring to life lessons in agriculture were donated to the Lawler library.

One of them, The Soil in Jackie’s Garden, written by Peggy Thomas and illustrated by Neely Daggett “is a Bluegrass Award K-2 winner and currently out of publication. A real treat for readers and library media specialists alike,” according to the school district.

Books are being donated at each elementary school this week, as GCHS Ag teams continue their visits this week.
