A western Kentucky man has been sentenced to three decades in prison after pleading guilty to raping an infant.
Mykill D. Puckett, 26, of Webster County, pled guilty in Webster Circuit Court to one count of first-degree rape (victim under the age of 12), incest, first-degree assault, first-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12), and first-degree wanton endangerment.
Puckett will serve a 30-year sentence and will not be eligible for parole, according to the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office.
As K105 previously reported, the charges arose in August 2023 when Puckett’s biological daughter, who was six-months-old at the time of the abuse, was taken to Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville suffering injuries “consistent with child abuse and assault,” Kentucky State Police said at the time.
The baby was subsequently airlifted to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville.
“The abuse in this case was simply horrific. Law enforcement and prosecutors responded with the full weight of Kentucky’s justice system,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Zac Greenwell said.
In addition to a 30-year sentence, there will be a 10-year Interpersonal Protective Order to keep Puckett away from the victim. Puckett will also be subjected to five-years of post-incarceration supervision and required to register with the Sex Offender Registry for the remainder of his life.
