Authorities in Ohio County made three methamphetamine-related arrests in five hours on Friday.
The first arrest came at 5:00 p.m. when a deputy was on patrol near Horse Branch General Store on Hwy 62 when police observed 40-year-old Martha M. Geary, of McDaniels, “stumble and fall out of a vehicle and then fall again in the parking lot,” according to the Ohio Co. Sheriff’s Office.
While speaking with Geary, deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, resulting in police conducting a search. During that search, the sheriff’s office said deputies located 6.2 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and “narcotic medication” along with drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Geary was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), prescription controlled substance not in its proper container, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Then, at 9:45 p.m., deputies received a tip on a wanted individual, “at an address in Horse Branch,” the sheriff’s office said in a social media post.
Upon arriving at the address, deputies located the wanted person, 43-year-old William Dugan. When deputies searched Dugan, they located methamphetamine and marijuana.
Dugan was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of marijuana. He was additionally served with a failure to appear warrant.
Just over an hour later, at 11:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched “to a call for service in the 5000 block of Hwy 69 in Centertown,” according to the sheriff’s office.
“While on scene investigating a separate incident,” the sheriff’s office said, “deputies observed a glass pipe containing … methamphetamine sticking out of a backpack” belonging to 48-year-old Leland D. Bryant, of Owensboro.
Bryant was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All three suspects were lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center. Geary is no longer listed as an inmate.
