Troopers from Grayson, Breckinridge counties receive promotions

Kentucky State Police troopers from Grayson and Breckinridge counties have received promotions.

On Thursday, Kentucky State Police recognized 64 troopers and officers who were promoted into leadership roles, including two majors, 11 captains, 20 lieutenants, and 31 sergeants.

KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. and Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman presented plaques commemorating the service of those who were recently promoted to their new roles during a ceremony in Frankfort.

Among those receiving promotions were:

  • Lt. Brad Riley, of Caneyville, was promoted to captain. Riley is assigned to the Critical Incident Response Team. Riley joined KSP in 2009 and has served in several capacities including providing security for government officials. While working out of KSP Post 4 in Elizabethtown, Riley was selected Post 4 Trooper of the Year in 2010 and 2015.
  • KSP Post 4 Trooper Tyler Lynch, originally from Big Spring,was promoted to sergeant. Lynch joined KSP in September 2017 as part of 95th Cadet Class.
  • KSP Post 4 Sgt. Levi Scott, of Burkesville,was promoted to lieutenant. Scott was promoted to sergeant in November 2023. He formally served at the Columbia post where he was selected Post 15 Trooper of the Year in 2019. He began his KSP career in 2011.

Burnett commended the group for their professionalism and perseverance, reminding them that true leadership is measured by the example they set.

“Leadership isn’t defined by rank but by responsibility. It means guiding others with integrity and ensuring that those you lead have the support to succeed. I’m confident each of you will uphold the proud tradition of service that defines the Kentucky State Police.”
