A caretaker has been arrested after assaulting a disabled person multiple times.
Sandy G. Whitaker, 48, of Waynesburg, was caught on video punching the victim in the face, grabbing her hair and jerking the victims head, according to a report by WKYT.com.
The victim, who is non-verbal and unable to take care of herself, had a large bruise on the side of her face and more bruising on her arms. The suspect, who was hired as a caregiver for the victim, admitted to beating the woman at least a half-dozen times over the past year.
Whitaker was arrested by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on Friday and charged with knowingly abusing/neglecting an adult and lodged in the Casey County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
The investigation began when Adult Protective Services contacted police about the abuse.
