It was a harrowing three-and-a-half hours, but first responders have located a missing Wax teenager with special needs.
Angelica walked away from her home in the 500 block of Miller Road, off Wax Road, at approximately 2:30 Monday afternoon. She began walking east into a heavily wooded area.
First responders searched the area on multiple four-wheelers. Two K-9 units specializing in finding missing people were also used in the search.
Then, at about 7:30, Angelica was found by Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith and his teenage son Owen. She was suffering from a possible broken leg.
The two Meredith’s were searching a barn off Wheeler Mill Road when they heard screams for help. They followed the screams for 600 to 700 yards and found Angelica, who was wet and shivering as the temperature dropped into the low 40s.
She was treated at the scene by first responders and EMS personnel before being transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center.
The search was coordinated by Grayson County Emergency Management Deputy Director Blake Schroerlucke and Director Carey Sims.
