
A second woman has been murdered in Floyd County since October 23, giving Kentucky at least three murdered women in the last month.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded on Friday to a report of an unresponsive female in the 14000 block of Hwy 979 in Beaver in Floyd County. Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered 35-year-old Sarah Slone, of Beaver, deceased from a gunshot wound.
On Monday, state police arrested 35-year-old Joshua Gayheart, also of Beaver, and charged him with Slone’s murder.
He was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
As K105 reported only a few weeks ago, two Kentucky women were the victims of murders within a week.
On October 23, 34-year-old Jill Howell, of Prestonsburg, was found shot to death at a residence in McDowell, also in Floyd County.
No suspects have been arrested in the case.
Then, on October 29, 41-year-old Brenda Selene Chiguil Acua, of Shelby County, was found deceased from a gunshot wound at Veechdale Apartments in the 200 block of Buck Creek Road in Simpsonville.
No arrests have been made.
