Herman Patrick Alvey, Jr., age 74, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Thursday, (November 27, 2025) at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes in Leitchfield, KY. He was born on August 2, 1951, in Louisville, KY, the son of the late Herman Patrick Sr. and Clara Beatrice Pierce Alvey.
Jr. worked at Campbell Hausfeld, retiring after 33 years of service. His passion and talent were music, and playing the drums. He played drums as a member of several bands. He loved wood crafting. Jr. was an avid U.K. fan.
He married Louise Saltsman in 1981. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Saltsman Alvey; a son, Matt Langdon (Lou Ann); one grandson, Vincent Langdon (Bobbie); his siblings, Susie Mattingly, Janet Ramsey (Bruce), Margaret Fey, Bill Alvey (Debbie), and Lisa Pharis (Matt); and several nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Alvey.
Mass of Christian Burial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, (December 5, 2025) at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leitchfield. Father Santhosh Thomas and Deacon Bob Higbee will be officiating. Burial will be in the Wortham Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time to leave for the church service.
