A teenager was struck by a large branch that crashed through the roof of her home.
The incident happened on Friday around midnight when a 15-year-old girl lying in bed was struck by a branch that crashed through the roof of a mobile home on Witten Lane in Wittensville, a small town in Johnson County, according to W.R. Castle Fire-Rescue
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the victim with a “deep laceration on her leg,” the fire department said in a social media post.
“She had been, I believe, in her bed. Maybe was asleep. All that wind came through — that really strong line of storms that came through — and a limb that was probably four or five inches in diameter just came right through the roof and came in there and struck her,” Brian Jeffiers, Deputy Chief for W.R. Castle Fire and Rescue, told WYMT.com.
The teenager was transported to a local hospital.
