A middle school teacher in Lincoln County is in hot water after hosting a New Year’s Eve party where approximately 20 teenagers were drinking.
The Lincoln Co. Sheriff’s Office received a tip that there was underage drinking at a party hosted by Lincoln Co. Middle School teacher, Jessica Berry, 44, of Stanford. When police arrived at the residence in the 200 block of South Loop Drive several intoxicated juveniles were seen leaving the home, multiple news outlets report.
“Her statement at that time was yes, there was teenagers at her house, yes, she was aware they had brought alcohol …,” Lincoln Co. Sheriff Shawn Hines told WKYT.com.
Police interviews with parents and juveniles revealed that about 20 teens between the ages of 13 and 17 attended the party.
Due to Berry’s cooperation with the investigation, Hines said she was cited for multiple counts of unlawful transaction with a minor instead of arrested.
According to the Lincoln Co. Middle School website, Berry is a sixth-grade social studies teacher. The school district has not issued a statement regarding the incident.
