
William “Willie” Thomas Higdon, 65 of Big Clifty, KY passed away peacefully at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital on Friday, January 23.
Born, May 8, 1960 in Leitchfield, KY, he attended Grayson County High School, graduating with the class of 1978. He was a dedicated worker at Vermont American and Leggett and Platt, a devoted husband, supportive and caring stepfather, and a loyal friend. He loved listening to music, watching TV, and spending time with family and friends. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leitchfield, KY.
He is survived by his daughters Ashley Murray (Brendan) of Penrose, CO, Amber Mihm (Scott Sparks) of Big Clifty, KY; four grandchildren, Peyton Sparks, Kayson Sparks, Peyton “PeyPey” Smith and Kaeson “Archer” Murray; five nephews, Jeff Parker (BJ), Billy Joe Higdon, Dwayne Anderson (Amanda), Daniel Skaggs, and Cory Skaggs (Emily). Many great nieces and nephews, as well as his best friends Kenny Winn and Teresa Skaggs, also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Rose Thornsberry Higdon; his parents Joseph Ray Higdon and Anna Mildred Casey Higdon; a sister, Mary Ellen Mudd and a brother, Omer Ray Higdon.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, (February 7, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
