A Bowling Green woman has been arrested for the murder of a Marshall County man in June 2024.

As K105 previously reported, the investigation began when Kentucky State Police, on June 27, 2024, received information from the U.S. Forestry Service regarding an abandoned vehicle in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.

Troopers conducted a welfare check on the vehicle’s owner, 44-year-old Jesse A. Moore, at his Possum Trot residence.

“Troopers responded to a residence in the Possum Trot area of Marshall County to attempt to make contact with Moore,” state police said. “When they arrived at the residence … they located (Moore) who appeared to have suffered from a gunshot wound.”

After an 18-month investigation, police identified 39-year-old Haley K. Nelson, of Bowling Green, as the prime suspect.

The case against Nelson was presented on Thursday to a Marshall County Grand Jury which returned murder and tampering with physical evidence indictments, state police said.

Nelson was arrested by Kentucky State Police on Friday in Bowling Green and lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail on a $1 million cash bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.

No further details will be released at this time, state police said.
