The parents of an 11-year-old boy have been indicted in his death.
Patrick Z. Speer, 34, and Christina Chapman, 40, were indicted by a Martin County Grand Jury for second-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal abuse (victim under the age of 12) in the August 13, 2025, death of their son.
They are accused of “intentionally abusing another person” by placing him in a situation that may cause him physical injury and “wantonly causing his death,” according to WYMT.com.
Both suspects were lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
The investigation was conducted by Kentucky State Police, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Social Services.
No other information on the case has been released.
