A Wilkey Elementary School fourth grade student, and burgeoning author, recently made her television debut.

Emma Cook made an appearance on the KET/PBS News Quiz program after she submitted an answer to a question featured on the show. Each week, students from around the country submit answers but only a select few are chosen to appear on the program.

Emma answered the question: “What are your New Year’s goals and why?”

She answered by writing: “My goal is to write a novel before the year is up. I started it last year during summer break and promised my family I’d finish it by last December. If they like it, I might even make a second one.”

Emma’s teacher, Steven Bliss, encourages his students to participate in the program and has been pleased with Emma’s enthusiasm, the school district noted.

Emma’s response to the program’s question is the first time a student from Grayson County has been featured on the program “in at least the last two years,” according to Grayson County Schools.
