An Edmonson County woman has been arrested after firing a gun during a child exchange.

The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Cheyanne M. King, of Brownsville, on February 8 after she admitted to firing a pistol during a child exchange that took place that afternoon in the 8600 block of Nolin Dam Road, on the edge of Mammoth Cave National Park.

Deputies initially responded to the scene after receiving a report of a disturbance between King and another woman, according to a report by WNKY.com.

During a search of the scene, police located a shell casing. While being questioned, King admitted to firing the gun into the air after being threatened by the other woman.

She was arrested at her home on South Main Street in Brownsville two hours after the incident.

King was charged with felony wanton endangerment (discharge of a firearm) and lodged in the Hart County Jail. She has since been released.
