Carol Jean Jewell, age 69, of Leitchfield, KY passed away Wednesday, (February 18, 2026) at her home.
She was born on November 1, 1956 in Louisville, KY, the oldest daughter of the late Charles Witten and Estellene Bess, and the granddaughter of the late Eunice Witten and Charles Alvie Witten, who raised her.
She was the Valedictorian of the first graduating class of Grayson County High School in 1976. She worked tirelessly throughout her life in various roles, including Walmart. She retired from AGC Automotive, where she worked for 25 years. Carol enjoyed flower gardening, landscaping, and spending time with her grandchildren. She attended the First General Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Rodger Jewell, of Leitchfield; six children, Ryan Ray Cook, MaryLeah Ashlee Winchester (Willard Cook), Alisan Smith (Travis), Mallory Jewell, Baylee Jewell, and Bryson Jewell; three grandchildren, Bradley & Brooke Gibson and Jackson Smith; a brother, Chuck Witten (Sherry) and a sister, MaryJane Goodman (Jody). Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charles Alvie and Eunice Witten; and her maternal grandparents, Lafayette and Zonie Harold.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Monday, (February 23, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Burial will be in the Clarkson Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
