Grayson County High School has named Ethan Saltsman as the next head coach of the Lady Cougar soccer team.

Saltsman moves over to the girls’ program after spending the last four years at the helm of the boys team, where he led them to a pair of region tournament berths.

“Ethan has provided a lot of stability for our boys program, and from the beginning of the search for a new coach for the girls program was someone I had my mind on,” Grayson County principal Shane Decker told K105. “When he came to me interested in the job, I felt it would be a smooth transition and a natural fit.”

Last season, the Lady Cougars finished with a .500 record and returned to the 3rd Region tournament for the fourth straight season.

They will return nearly 75% of their scoring from a year ago, highlighted by the leading scorer Hope Lewis, who will be a sophomore.

“We have a young core group of talent coming through the program, and I’m excited to see what Ethan can do with them,” Decker added. “I hope our parents, players, and community are as excited about this transition as I am.”

The Lady Cougars will open the new season in August.
