The Twin Lakes Skatepark Project is one step closer to becoming a reality.

The Twin Lakes Skatepark Project, conceptualized and spearheaded by Grayson County resident Casey Keown, was presented with a $25,000 grant check from the Leitchfield Tourism Commission.

“The grant marks another important step forward for the proposed community skatepark,” Keown said.

(The grant funding was originally awarded in September 2025, with the ceremonial presentation taking place last week, as project representatives provided progress updates to the commission.)

During the Tourism Commission meeting, Keown shared that the organization has received its first conceptual design from nationally recognized skatepark design firm, Hunger Skateparks.

The concept, according to Keown, was developed using community survey input and is currently planned to be approximately 10,000-square-feet of skateable terrain, combining street-style elements with a small flow bowl to accommodate a wide range of ages and skill levels.

“This project continues to gain momentum because of strong community partnerships,” Keown said. “The Tourism Commission’s investment allowed us to move into the professional design phase, and we’re now seeing the vision begin to take shape in a real and tangible way.”

The $25,000 grant supported Phase 1 Design Development, which includes site evaluation, stakeholder coordination, conceptual planning, cost estimating, and preparation for future grant opportunities, and construction planning.

Project leaders expect additional refinements to be made before final 3D renderings are released publicly, at which time a community presentation will be held to gather feedback prior to advancing to the next phase.

Major fundraiser scheduled for next month

Keown announced the return of the projects signature fundraising event: Art in Motion Casino Night, scheduled for March 28, 2026, at Arbor Stone Vineyard, at 315 Hardin Road in Leitchfield.

The event will feature gaming, food, entertainment, and prizes, with proceeds directly supporting the skatepark project.

Twin Lakes Skatepark Project, Inc. is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization “dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and professionally designed skatepark for the youth and families of the Twin Lakes region,” Keown said.
