The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio County Judge-Executive’s office recently received suspicious letters that caused headaches to staff members.

Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright told the Messenger-Inquirer that the FBI has been contacted to investigate.

“We got a letter addressed to the sheriff’s office and it was postmarked out of Michigan,” Wright told the Messenger-Inquirer. “My secretary opened in, and it was a blank piece of paper.”

After Wright’s secretary opened the letter, which was stamped with an upside-down U.S. flag (indicating dire distress), she became dizzy for a short time.

The staff member that opened the letter sent to Judge-Executive David Johnston’s office also had a headache for about 15 minutes.

In addition to an upside-down U.S. flag stamp, there was a marking on each letter that said, “love.”

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office also received a similar letter.

All the letters are being sent to a laboratory for testing.
