A Centertown man, granted shock probation after a drug trafficking conviction, has been busted before he could traffic “a large amount of methamphetamine” into Ohio County.
Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright said an investigation involving his office and Kentucky State Police resulted in the arrest of 34-year-old Dwayne Hackney on Tuesday in Allen County.
“Through coordinated investigative efforts, detectives were able to intercept Mr. Hackney before he could return to Ohio County with a large quantity of methamphetamine intended for distribution within our community,” Wright said. “Mr. Hackney was stopped in Allen County shortly after acquiring the narcotics and was found to be in possession of a small-caliber handgun.”
He was taken into custody by troopers without incident.
Hackney was lodged in the Allen County Detention Center where he was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana along with non-moving violations.
He’s being held on a $30,000 full cash bond.
Hackney, according to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, was convicted in Ohio County on December 6, 2023, of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and receiving stolen property.
He was granted shock probation and is on probation until November 2029.
