After the first three days candidates are eligible to file to run for office in the 2018 Primary Election, 15 local candidates filed candidacy paperwork with the Grayson County Clerk’s Office.

Included in those 15 people filing were:

Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson, Sheriff Norman Chaffins, Jailer Jason Woosley, County Attorney Clay Ratley, and PVA Ernie Perkins filed to run for their respective offices. Other incumbents who filed to run for reelection were 3rd District Constable Marion Higgs and 6th District Constable Tim Saltsman.

With County Clerk Sherry Weedman deciding not to run for reelection, filing for that post were Becky Mercer and Jamie Layman Bratcher. And on the heels of Mayor William Thomason announcing he is not running for another term, Council member Rick Embry filed his papers to run for the Leitchfield mayoral post.

Candidates filing for Grayson County Magistrate were Robby Higdon (1st District), Damon Hornback (4th District), Ricky Paul (4th District), Brian Ashley (5th District), and Dennis McCrady (6th District).

Candidates have until January 30 to file candidacy paperwork.
