
A western Kentucky deputy has been shot.
The incident happened on Thursday at approximately 5:00 p.m. at a residence on Hwy 365 south of Sturgis in Crittenden County when at least one deputy arrived to conduct a welfare check, according to the Crittenden Press.
At some point, shots were fired, resulting in a Crittenden County deputy suffering at least one gunshot wound. He was airlifted to an unknown hospital.
Another person was also shot, as the Crittenden Press reports that “the coroner” arrived at the scene.
An elderly woman was transported to a local hospital. She, though, was not hit by gunfire.
Law enforcement personnel from around the area arrived at the scene to assist, including Livingston County Sheriff Bobby Davidson and deputies.
Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hilbrecht wrote on social media regarding the shooting: “Please join us in praying for a Crittenden County Deputy who was shot in the line of duty. We ask for prayers for the Deputy, their family, fellow Deputies, and all first responders involved.”
The Providence Police Department in Webster County wrote: “Please join us in praying for a Crittenden County Deputy shot in the line of duty earlier this afternoon. Please pray for him, his dear wife and family.”
