The very popular Grayson County Extension Office class, “Cooking through the Calendar”, will begin a new series of classes for 2022! A New Year is a great time to start fresh and focus on your health, nutrition, exercise and mental wellness, and this great monthly series will help you get started and point you in the right direction!
The monthly class will feature a new recipe from the University of Kentucky’s 2022 Food and Nutrition Calendar. Each recipe is geared toward nutrition, and healthier versions of well balanced meals! The first class in the series will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 beginning at 5:00 p.m., CST, at the Extension Office located at 64 Quarry Road in Leitchfield. Each class will meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month for the entire year, with the exception of August (3rd Wednesday).
The class series is free and open to the public, and taught by Robin Burton, Grayson County Nutrition Education Program Assistant. Robin will prepare the monthly featured recipe for you to sample, and she will discuss nutrition, meal planning, food labels, shopping tips, and many other topics.
You will receive a copy of the 2022 Food and Nutrition Calendar, and a free kitchen-helper gift for every session that you attend. The calendar includes monthly physical activity tips, activity ideas, side dish recommendations, and links to YouTube with video demonstrations of the monthly recipes! There are also links to Plate it Up! Kentucky Proud recipes, and podcasts that focus on health, nutrition, resource management and MORE!
Advanced registration is required by calling (270) 259-3492 and space is limited. Invite a friend and sign up for all 12 sessions!
PLEASE NOTE when calling to register: The Extension Office will be closed December 24 and the week of December 27.
