On Thursday morning at approximately 3:20, the Leitchfield Fire Department responded to 2075 Kiper Road on the report of a structure fire.

Upon arriving at the scene, Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall said firefighters found flames coming from the north side windows and rear of the home.

The home’s lone resident, a female, was able to escape the blaze but suffered a burned hand, according to her son.

Firefighters battled the fire for well over an hour, but the residence was a complete loss, as the roof collapsed as LFD fought the blaze.

Firefighters cleared the scene just before 7:00, with the only reported injury being to the resident’s hand.
