At an abbreviated Leitchfield City Council meeting on Monday night, council members performed some house cleaning by giving final approval to proceed with the transition to its new payroll software.
The software currently used by the city and Leitchfield Utilities has been in use for about 20 years and is not fully supported. Utilities and the city have agreed to split the nearly $24,000 cost of the new software, as well as the annual software maintenance and support fee of $3,255.
Council members also approved a resolution recognizing Warren RECC’s 80th anniversary.
The cooperative was established on April 6, 1938 and, according to the proclamation, “continues to improve the well-being of its members by providing affordable and reliable electric services to homes, farms, schools, businesses, and industries.”
The Democrat challenger to incumbent Brett Guthrie in the 2nd District Congressional race, Hank Linderman, was at the meeting, and introduced himself to council members.
Linderman defeated three fellow democrats in the May primary for the right to take on Rep. Guthrie. He is a musician, recording engineer and music producer and currently resides in Falls of Rough.
Guthrie has held the seat since 2009.
