Tuesday night at 9:45, the Leitchfield Fire and Police Departments responded to a structure fire at 316 Bruce Avenue.

When the initial call came into Central Dispatch reporting the fire, the blaze was reportedly located in a back bedroom of the home, but only minutes later, when Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall arrived on scene, the mobile home was fully engulfed in flames.

Several people lived in the mobile home, which appeared to have multiples additions, and were able to escape the residence uninjured. It’s believed a cat perished in the fire.

Firefighters battled the blaze, which destroyed the structure, for about 90 minutes before clearing the scene at 11:30.

Duvall said it is unclear what started the fire.
