Three more cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Grayson County.

In lieu of a COVID-19 briefing on Tuesday, the Grayson County Health Department announced a 37-year-old woman and Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation employee, a 27-year-old male Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center staff member and 50-year-old woman have been diagnosed with the highly contagious virus.

Those three cases increase Grayson County’s COVID-19 total to 89. No new deaths were reported, leaving the county’s fatalities related to the virus at five victims.

As of Monday afternoon, five of Grayson County’s active COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, according to Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson.

Of the 89 coronavirus cases diagnosed in Grayson County, 41 are residents of Grayson Nursing & Rehabilitation (GNR) and 16 are employees. Eleven Spring View Nursing & Rehabilitation residents have also tested positive.

In total, 68 (76.4 percent) of the county’s COVID-19 cases are tied to the county’s two nursing homes. Four of the county’s five virus-related deaths are tied to GNR.

Five Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center employees have now tested positive for the virus.

On Monday, Grayson County Health Department Director Josh Embry did not attend Henderson’s COVID-19 briefing after a health department employee began displaying coronavirus symptoms and underwent testing. Out of an abundance of caution, Embry and other health department staff who came into contact with the ill employee are self-isolating.

The test result for the employee has not yet been received by officials as of Tuesday afternoon.

A COVID-19 briefing will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday this week. As always, one can watch the briefings live on K105’s Facebook and YouTube pages and be heard on K105.
