An employee of the Butler County School District has been accused of inviting a boy to join a sexually explicit Facebook group.

Kentucky State Police said 51-year-old Richie T. Bratcher, of Morgantown, was charged with three counts of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor.

State police investigators were told by district officials that a boy said Bratcher, unsolicited, asked him to join Facebook groups that are sexual in nature and contain graphic images.

Superintendent Robert Tuck said Bratcher, a clerical assistant for the district, did not have direct student contact.

“I’ve learned that an employee of Butler County School District has been arrested by the Kentucky State Police on charges of three counts of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor,” Tuck said in a statement. “I have taken appropriate action to remove this individual from the district at this time. Due to individual privacy rights we’re unable to comment further at this time.”

Bratcher was lodged in the Butler County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.

The investigation is ongoing.
