A former teacher at a private eastern Kentucky school has been sentenced to 360 months in federal prison for producing child pornography.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky said 49-year-old Larry Dale Foley Jr., of Berea, was sentenced in federal court on Thursday. Foley formerly taught at LaFontaine Preparatory School.

The investigation into Foley began after a tip was submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children,

Foley was indicted in February for receiving, distributing, and possessing child pornography. According to the FBI, on December 17, 2018, Foley received images of child pornography and distributed dozens of child pornography images on December 30, 2018.

The FBI raided Foley’s home in January and discovered he had distributed 46 images and two videos containing child pornography. The devices seized during the raid of his home showed that Foley produced the child porn, which contained images and videos of him and an underage female.

None of the images or videos contained students from LaFontaine Prep, the FBI said.

Foley pled guilty in September 2020. Under federal law, he must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.
