Nearly 100 new COVID cases in Grayson Co. since Monday. Active cases down, deaths on the rise.

On Thursday, the Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) said nearly 100 new COVID-19 cases have been reported since Monday.

The health department announced 96 new cases have been diagnosed since the agency’s last update. The new cases give Grayson County 4,294 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

The GCHD said there are 360 active COVID cases in the county, down 57 active cases since Monday, with 21 patients hospitalized.

There have been 85 reported COVID-related deaths, an increase of two newly reported deaths since Monday. Fourteen deaths are awaiting confirmation from state health officials.

The official COVID death toll in Grayson County is 71, an increase of three since Monday (one of the deaths was previously reported to the GCHD and was confirmed this week by state health officials).

The county’s incident rate is 130.8, down from 136 on Monday. Grayson County’s rate of occurrence is 13th highest in the state, and in western Kentucky, the county is behind only Barren County’s 160.1 rate of infection.
