A Morgantown woman wanted for shooting a man in Ohio County has been arrested by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Leitchfield Police Department.

The investigation into the location of 29-year-old Chasity D. Clopton led Grayson County Deputies Erik Franklin and Caleb Owens, and Leitchfield Police Department Detective Kevin Smith and Officer DJ Newton, to a location in Grayson County early Tuesday morning.

Once arriving at the residence, police found and arrested Clopton.

She was initially lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center but has since been transferred to the Christian County Detention Center. She is being held on a probation violation.

Clopton is accused of shooting 47-year-old Michael Miller, of Morgantown, in the face in Horse Branch on February 4, 2019.

In addition to the attempted murder count, Clopton was also charged with first-degree assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with physical evidence.

Clopton has a felony arrest history dating back at least a decade. She was charged with terroristic threatening, menacing and harassing communications in April 2011 in Butler County. In August 2011 in Butler County, Clopton was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and related charges.

In June 2012, she was arrested on theft by unlawful taking (automobile) and receiving stolen property charges, also in Butler County. And in May 2020 in Grayson County, she was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

She additionally has numerous arrests for failure to appear in multiple counties.
